A middle-aged man stands in profile with both gloved hands resting on an umbrella, from his mouth comes the words, “Y.C. Tallow 30/-“. He is Thomas Tooke, (1774 – 1858). He was a partner in Stephen Thornton & Co. until 1826. This is a third state issue with the name Mr. Tooke inscribed on the pavement. B. M. 14536. £35. |
